Measuring Security, Privacy and Data Protection in Crowdsourcing

Over the last few years, different types of crowdsourcing have expanded rapidly allowing citizens to connect with each other, governments to connect with common mass, coordinate disaster response work, to map political conflicts, acquiring information quickly and participating in issues that affect day-to-day lives of citizens. The increased use of crowdsourcing platforms and the positive development of crowdsourcing help common people to become more active and informed citizens. However important questions remain over the security, privacy and data protection issues of crowdsourced information. This paper aims to discuss the importance of security, privacy and data protection in crowdsourcing while analyzing possible privacy, security and data protection threats for the same. So far no parameters have been developed to measure the privacy, security and data protection level to perform safe crowdsourcing process. Thus, this paper will lastly discuss the possibility of developing an index for crowdsourcing process i.e. Crowdsourcing Index (CI) to measure the level of safety while crowdsourcing.
